My journey of faith has many twists, turns, downslopes, and mountain trails. In constant conversation with the Lord, life has never been dull.

I was ordained a minister in 1991. I have served as associate pastor, solo pastor, head of staff and co-pastor. However, my true passion is interim ministry. I am so glad to be serving Baltimore Presbytery as Staff Interim. Bethel is my 5th church since coming to this presbytery in 2022.

My wife, Kim, and I have just celebrated our 32nd anniversary. Kim is also a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She is serving Granite Presbyterian Church and Churchville Presbyterian Church.

We have two special and incredibly talented adult sons. Chuck is a natural designer, builder, LEGO master and writer. Matthew and his wife, our wonderful daughter-in-law Savannah are both professional archers. They are both Olympic hopefuls. They both just took gold at two national championship events!

I love murder mystery books, walking, rock & roll, American history, my family, baseball history, and sumo – not necessarily in that order.

Kirsten Fitzsimmons

Kirsten Fitzsimmons is a graduate from Towson University with a degree in Instrumental Music Education with her primary performance medium on pipe organ. She currently serves as a member of the National Association for Music Education, the American String Teacher’s Association, and the Baltimore chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

A strong foundation with keyboard and string skills has allowed Ms. Fitzsimmons to privately teach piano, violin, and viola throughout Harford County.  She also volunteers as a vocal and instrumental accompanist for community and school soloists/ensembles. Aside from privately teaching and performing, Ms. Fitzsimmons volunteers as an instrumental sectional leader for Maryland public schools and for the Baltimore County Summer Instrumental Music Camp.

As the former music director of St. John’s Episcopal at Mt. Washington, current music director of Bethel Presbyterian Church, and co-founder of Towson University’s American String Teachers Association, Ms. Fitzsimmons is strongly committed to musical service throughout Maryland.  She has recently accepted a position in the Cecil County Public School System as a music teacher for North East High School, Cherry Hill Middle School, North East Elementary School, Thomas Estates Elementary School, and Gilpin Manor Elementary School.  She also gives private lessons on piano, violin, and organ.

Over the years, she has grown alongside the Bethel community, nurturing her passion for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for children, teenagers, and families. Chrissie is dedicated to ensuring that every family feels loved, supported, and connected. With over 30 years of administrative experience, Kelly serves as Bethel’s dedicated Office Manager, playing a vital role in supporting our mission to make disciples and share the Gospel. She brings expertise in streamlining operations, improving processes, and ensuring smooth day-to-day administration. Her work strengthens our ministries, enhances communication, and supports both staff and lay leadership in carrying out God’s plan. Kelly is committed to fostering a welcoming and organized environment where spiritual growth and service can flourish.
